DHHS Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents Announces New Members

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents (a working group of the Office of AIDS Research Council) is pleased to welcome three new members to the Panel. The new members will begin a 4-year term starting in March 2011.

AIDSinfo Updates "HIV and Pregnancy" Fact Sheets

The revised AIDSinfo fact sheet series "HIV and Pregnancy" is now available. The fact sheets provide information intended especially for HIV-infected women who are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant.

All fact sheets in the series (formerly titled "HIV During Pregnancy, Labor and Delivery, and After Birth") were reviewed and updated based on the latest information in the May 24, 2010, edition of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Perinatal HIV Guidelines, Recommendations for Use of Antiretroviral Drugs in Pregnant HIV-1-Infected Women for Maternal Health and Interventions to Reduce Perinatal HIV Transmission in the United States.

Changes to the revised fact sheet series include a new fact sheet on "Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV" and additional information on the safety of anti-HIV medications used in pregnancy. Concise and clear definitions are provided for all terms used in the fact sheets.
