Corrections to the Perinatal Guidelines

Date: April 3, 2013
Source: AIDSinfo

On January 22, 2013, changes were made to the Perinatal Guidelines to clarify the infant nevirapine (NVP) dosing recommendations.

In the Postpartum Care—Infant Antiretroviral Prophylaxis section, Table 9. Recommended Neonatal Dosing for Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV was updated to indicate that the NVP prophylaxis doses are presented as the total dose (not mg/kg).

On January 29, 2013, additional clarifying changes were made to the table. The language for the dosing recommendation was changed to “TOTAL for each dose” (modified from “TOTAL dose PO”).

On April 3, 2013, an error in the references in the Darunavir section was corrected. Reference 4 was updated.
