AIDSinfo Releases New Consumer Fact Sheets and Infographics

AIDSinfo has added two new fact sheets to our library of consumer education materials:

  • What is a Drug Interaction?
HIV medicines help people with HIV live longer and healthier lives, but some HIV medicines can create problems when they react with food, certain medical conditions, or other drugs. Read this fact sheet to learn how drug interactions affect people with HIV and how to avoid them.
  • How to Find HIV Treatment Services
This fact sheet provides links to online resources that can help people with HIV find health care providers, get assistance paying for HIV medicines, locate affordable housing, and manage mental health issues.

Visit infoSIDA to view these fact sheets in Spanish.

We’ve also introduced two new infographics:

  • The Path to a Longer, Healthier Life with HIV
Regular visits to your health care provider, an early start to treatment, and a few other simple steps will put you on the road to living healthier with HIV.
  • What’s a Blip?
Blips in HIV levels can happen to anyone with HIV. View this infographic to find out what causes blips and what you can do to avoid them.

February 7 is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), compared with other races and ethnicities, African Americans account for a higher proportion of new HIV diagnoses, those living with HIV, and those ever diagnosed with AIDS. On February 7, National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day events will be held across the nation to promote HIV education, testing, community involvement, and treatment in black communities.

To learn more about this annual observance, visit our National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day webpage.
