HIV is a serious public health issue for the Hispanic/Latino community. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Hispanics/Latinos are disproportionately affected by HIV, accounting for about 25% of new diagnoses of HIV in the United States in 2015, despite representing about 18% of the total U.S. population. Stigma, language barriers, and limited access to health care are among the factors that contribute to the higher rates of HIV infection in Hispanic/Latino communities.
